Eastlakers don't eat what the suits serve up
There are already too many apartment complexes here and the traffic congestion is horrible. And regarding the schools being overcrowded, the current school boards keep using the Mello-Roos money that is designated for new facilities on other things. SUHSD continues to move Mello-Roos money outside of the designated areas, and also spends the money on iPads and other unauthorized expenditures.— May 9, 2015 2:15 p.m.
Park of dreams remains that way
SD uses the South Bay as a dumping ground for industry and pot shops. But won't take care of the people that live there. The roads around Otay Mesa are abysmal also, like driving through Beirut.— April 29, 2015 8:51 a.m.
New U-T San Diego vice-boss same as the old
Do we also get a story on the Reader's owner/publisher?— April 29, 2015 8:43 a.m.
600 more families for Otay Ranch?
BBQ makes excellent points. Seems the planning commission and city council members are really oblivious to the issues the city faces. That's what you get when you keep electing the same old professional politicians. We need new blood at city hall. Oh, and Salas is in way over her head as Mayor.— April 26, 2015 8 p.m.
Going off the rails on a gravy train?
There should also be an investigative story in to Susan Luzzaro's coverage of education and the school districts. She routinely penned "news stories" about the school districts and board members without disclosing that she has several family members that are current or past Teachers Union officials. Her articles always seem to mirror precisely what is coming out of the mouths of the various union bosses. Conflict of interest.— April 23, 2015 3:20 p.m.
There won't be a test and there will be a party
There are two general groups of people opposed to Common Core: right wing nuts that don't want the federal government in the schools, and teachers union bosses. Now since the author, Susan Luzzaro, has current and former teachers union bosses and activists in her family, we can see the motivation for this story. The failure to disclose this relationship up front, while writing "stories" under the guise of "news journalism" is a horrendous breach of journalistic ethics. And a conflict of interest.— April 23, 2015 8:51 a.m.
Drought relief suggestion shot down
Nothing the government does is "cost effective". But some things just need to get done.— April 17, 2015 11:15 p.m.
Plainly constitutional
Don, why do you keep saying "corporations" in this article instead of "unions"?— April 6, 2015 12:13 p.m.
Aw, man, you got ginkgo biloba'ed?
Most of those supplements are little more than snake oil. Unfortunately many of them are made in Utah, and Senator Orin Hatch (UT) has woven protections for them in myriad federal laws and regulations. This will have to go to the Circuit court to gain relief.— April 3, 2015 10:34 p.m.
Beers running hot and cold
Just stop with all that "Belgian" garbage! Also out: any fruit-flavored beer. Always in: the Green Flash hoppy styles!— March 16, 2015 11:10 p.m.
