Who Put the Dogs Out?
It's great to see a story like this that helps educate San Diegans about the unfair treatment of pets and their owners based on breed. I've had friends who have been forced to give up their pets because of extraordinary circumstances that have required them to move into a new home. These lovable pets are then forced into animal shelters where more often than not are victims of euthanasia due to the lower rates of adults being adopted. I got my dog Bowzer last year in March from It's the Pits - he's one 8 from Miley's litter and I couldn't have asked for a better dog. He's a stocky 80 lb. mix who gets along with every person, young or old, that he has ever met. He plays all day with my roommates dog, a 60 lb lab mix and also plays great with our friends 10-15 lb toy Pomeranian. I hope this story raises awareness of the wrongs imposed on pets and their owners based on breed and size alone. Keep writing Dori!— February 16, 2010 1:35 p.m.
