Punk-Rock Politico
Yeah, and Jello Biafra is a racist - I was looking back through the lyrics to Holiday in Cambodia and noticed some disturbing language. Oh, I take that back, Then, I realized that Jello Biafra, and punk in general, is often "ironic." I also remembered something about '77 punk and "situationism" and "detournement." The theory is that bourgeois logic, and straight-forward sincerity plays into the hands of those who dominate politics. Thus, the message in punk (especially political messages) must tilt, be provocative, invert. So, I take it back. Jello is clearly not a racist - he is an absurdist. Probably, a man who calls himself Demonic might be ironic too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%A9tournement— March 22, 2012 5:53 p.m.
