Mexican government working to allow foreign ownership of beach property
You write: "Legislators are hoping to draw in more international dollars" and I would suppose so. Other than the craven nature of always wanting more, aren't there also some really practical reasons to amend the Constitution on this ban? And....I'm sorry to have to say this, what with Americans so sensitive to the greatest country and all...doesn't it show Mexicans in a positive light? Willing to change their Constitution to adapt to current situations? (oww...had to hurt!!) Most of the big beachfront retirement properties are already protected by US title companies and title is not an issue. It happens I "own" a Baja property about a mile from the ocean. I'm delighted at the prospect of a clear or at least better title. I do not resent for an instant the improvements. The original purpose for the ban was to protect Mexico from foreign invaders as the country had recently been invaded by several European countries. Thanks for bringing attention to this wonderful change in Mexican law.— May 13, 2013 3:10 p.m.

Mother's day!! I spotted only one on Amso, over by the hospital. Usually there are two or three in that area every weekend. Where do you usually look?— May 12, 2013 11:11 p.m.

Chancellor University tried to recruit homeless
Great work, Brother Don! But (everyone has a 'but'?) aren't we straining out the gnats getting ready for the pig pit? What about the ties of "Education" with the Federal subsidies? The overall cost of education is skyrocketing due to Education feeding at the public trough of not only loans but tax credits and grants especially Pell grants. It appears Pell grants now go directly to the institution rather than the student. How much incentive does the school have to control costs when they can spend Federal dollars on marketing???— May 12, 2013 9 a.m.

Oh, you can also go about 1/2 way up and stay to your right. The trail will descend into Silver Set Park. Some people start at the park, but it isn't nearly as much fun. Suzie went to Lake Hodges yesterday and loved it. Have you tried there?— May 12, 2013 8:49 a.m.
Ner Tamid Synagogue
So grateful to see the Reader providing a great look at a wonderful influence in our community!! My daughter and I (I think she is Jewish from another life time?) often walk up to the synagogue and have fun in the children play area there. We are often greeted by whoever may be there and cordially greeted. The buildings are majestic and have wonderful sounds of nature in the prayer room. Some day we want to get over and take some classes or at least ask some questions.— May 12, 2013 8:42 a.m.

Hey, tweesparkle... Poway's cutest girl, by which I mean my roommate's 6 year old daughter, loves to hike "the scary path" up to Twin Peaks. To start go over by the hospital and find a street call Larchmont. Drive all the way to the dead end and park there in front of the houses. It is about 25 minutes to the top on well maintained trails that see little use but lots of wild life. At the 360 vista at the top, you will look down on some of the most exclusive houses in Poway. But, don't forget to look for Cortez gold that awaits a lucky finder!! hehe. True story!— May 12, 2013 8:25 a.m.
