Appointment Trend Continues In Chula Vista Elementary
Nice reporting Susan. I think voters may need to get a referendum going on special elections to replace vacant seats because this is ridiculous if you're not in the pre-selected club.— April 25, 2012 7:51 p.m.
Appointment Trend Continues In Chula Vista Elementary
The Christmas lights are funded through a grant that goes through the Conservation Department. I know because I asked why they weren't using that money to keep the rec centers, pools and libraries open. I think the times of cities less than 1 mil paying for fireworks should be over. The permitting process and vendor costs are well over $50K and I'd rather see that money go to keeping our rec centers, pools and libraries open. Why doesn't the city find a private donor to pay for them?— April 25, 2012 7:49 p.m.
Sweetwater Boardmember John McCann Calls Cops on Recall Activist
Not sure how to best respond. I did not call anybody a liar, so I don't know where you got that. I would be curious if Ms. Luzarro would do a freedom of information act on Ramirez and see how many times those two met within the last year. I would also guess that Payne called Ramirez right away and told him about the incident. It is also well known that Ramirez and McCann seriously dislike one another.— April 19, 2012 11:56 a.m.
Sweetwater Boardmember John McCann Calls Cops on Recall Activist
I was only bringing it up because the author of the article brought it up. I'm no fan of McCann or Ramirez, but it's not a coincidence that Ramirez was placed into here.— April 19, 2012 11:53 a.m.
Sweetwater Boardmember John McCann Calls Cops on Recall Activist
I agree with almost everything, except it's a stretch to imply Ramirez is well respected. He talks out of both sides of his mouth and it is well known that Payne & Ramirez are buddies.— April 19, 2012 6:27 a.m.
Sweetwater Union HS District Votes to Buy iPads for 7th-Graders
I just don't see how this sustainable after the bond funds dry-up. Can somebody tell me how Brand thinks he can really sustain this? Netbooks would be a better solution, where the cost would be about $200 or less if bought in bulk, but even then, I think this is a desperate attempt by the district to change the public conversation about SUHSD.— February 25, 2012 9:31 p.m.
Is Chula Vista's Economy on the Rebound?
Nice to hear some good news about CV. Thanks Susan for reporting this.— February 22, 2012 8:05 p.m.
A Shocking View into Former Sweetwater Superintendent Jesus Gandara's Past
@Nickdanny, are you joking? You really think the only people behind the recall movement ("causing problems" people) are the union people and community extremists? I can tell you for a fact that I am not a union member nor do I consider myself a community extremist and I support the recall. I have not signed the recall petition because I have not had the pleasure, but I do not know anybody in the south bay region that are satisfied with the status quo of the alleged corruption at SUHSD. Maybe you're right though, business of unethical behavior has been accepted for far too long and possibly a jury or the court system will do nothing to those that have been charged. That being said, any unethical behavior, regardless of the monetary value, should be addressed to the full extent of the law.— February 7, 2012 2:19 p.m.
Calexico Unified School District's Similarities with Sweetwater
and Pearl Quinones recently retired from the San Ysidro School District as a drop-out counselor.— January 17, 2012 5:43 p.m.
Sweetwater's Funds for Education
Just a question . . . Wasn't Brand recently awarded a three-year contract, which in turn no longer makes him an interim superintendent?— January 15, 2012 8:25 a.m.
