U-T Editor Brings in Former O.C. Register Pals
@NativeSD #37 I'd say less thin-skinned than protective of the dozen or so folks who took their time to participate in the live blog. Also, who doesn't get their hackles up when someone falsely accuses you of something? Re: RefriedPunkass' statement...here's a little play I wrote around his idea of constructive criticism. Guy #1: "Hey, this is a stupid-looking door! I mean, there's no house built around it. Next time you should build a whole house." Guy #2: "There is a house. Just look up and around. Here are some pictures and the schematics." Guy #1: "No, I was only looking at this door. I shouldn't have to turn my head left or right or up or down. The building must not have been there because I didn't see it. I did that you built a fruit stand next door and that sucked." Guy #2: "There was no fruit stand! There was just the house. Look, it's right there!" Guy #1: "No, I refuse to look. More house, less fruit stand!" Guy #2: "My god, you're a moron." Guy #1: "Name caller. It was just constructive criticism."— June 12, 2010 2:14 p.m.

#23 omitted three things: 1) The CityBeat staffer was me. 2) I didn't "call" him names--I redubbed him. He shall be referred to only as RefriedPunkass. 3) This is the reason why: http://lastblogonearth.com/2010/06/07/citybeat-pr… Getting stupid, Dave— June 11, 2010 12:20 a.m.

"Feel free to champion the Democratic cause, but you might want to consider not limiting yourself to that." Refried, I urge you to actually survey our news coverage. As I posted on SD Rostra: Whatever CityBeat’s reputation might be, I’d like to point out that since I’ve been here we’ve covered Darrell Issa’s health care proposals and Joel Anderson’s efforts to hold PERA accountable critically, but ultimately positively. We’ve also slammed Democrats, including Ben Hueso, Mary Salas/Juan Vargas and Francine Busby. When we reported on shady tariff earmarks by members of Congress, the Dems got more ink. Further, the Republicans earned three out of the five blossomiest spots in our Turd & Blossoms column round up. (Of course they won three out of the five turdiest too). So, in other words, we might lean progressive, but we do make an effort to be fair.— June 7, 2010 1:43 p.m.

WTF Removing the "u" wasn't good enough? You had to add in asterisks?— June 6, 2010 10:54 p.m.
