Good news/bad news for bees

Jesse Adcock and Ron Miller are to be commended for their work. The die-off of bee colonies is something we all should be concerned about. But what ever happened to all those killer African bees that were working their way north? Warnings went out for everyone to be extremely cautious about these "angry bees." Did they go the way of El Nino, or, perhaps like El Nino, might they still yet arrive?

Chargers or Comic-Con? SD can't get both (and needs neither)

Don, I could not agree with you more. This stadium nonsense is a con-job wrapped in a snow-job. How stupid do they think the people of San Diego are? There are parts of this city that look like a third-world country, and they talk about building football stadiums for millionaires? The mayor seems oblivious to the problems faced by many of the residents. Infrastructure problems go unaddressed. The sidewalks are a mess, the streets are full of potholes, the parks need maintenance, the sewers are inadequate when it rains, and the pipes that supply water are aged and deteriorating. There are so many things in this city that need to be upgraded. I cannot believe the mayor and his cronies refuse to let go of their ridiculous stadium dreams and instead start dealing with the realities of running and maintaining a modern city.

Rosecrans jacarandas are dead

I don't see how there is any justification for taking those trees out. When I read, "The March 2015 sign-off document does point to eight new jacaranda trees that will have to be planted in order to be in compliance with **the community plan that states all existing jacaranda trees on Rosecrans must be preserved.**" It seems to me somebody definitely took some liberties in deciding that "preserving" mean "replacing." It shows disregard of the community plan and something that should not be tolerated.

City bucks for “twinkle lights”

It's great to see the neighborhood groups doing things to light up the night. Too bad the powers-that-be for the City and the Port District never got their act together so the Coronado Bridge could be lit up as well. There was once a proposal to put LED's on the supports, which would have looked fantastic. It's amazing how dangerously close we get to being a world class city. We would rather spend millions building a facility so some boys can play with a ball.

Squelch, tang, and crunch at Striders Clublounge

I guess I didn't get the memo but, when did Off Track Betting become legal in San Diego? I've known people who went south to TJ to lay their bets because they didn't want to drive all the way to Vegas. Now all we need is Jai Alai and hookers and this place will be just like TJ! I'll be watching for the zonkie.

Your guide to movie theater parking

Scott, I've had much better luck at the Landmark in Hillcrest by entering off of the University Ave. exit from 163 South. If one's travels takes them that way, this entrance puts you right in the middle of the garage and usually close to a few empty slots. Also, don't forget that nice little parking lot two doors west of the Ken. If you get there 15 or 20 minutes early there are always plenty of empty spots. Lastly, don't forget there's lots of parking in the underground garage at the Ultrastar Hazard Center. You access that by taking Frazee to the end and taking a right on Hazard Center Dr.. Several entrances to the garage are on the right. Thanks for all the info. There's nothing worse than being late to the movie because you couldn't find a damn place to park!
