Cohn Restaurant Group sued over text message
Thanks for the address of this greedy man. Of all the businesses to sue, David and Leslie Cohn and their restaurants are wonderful business people and so generous in our community. We all hate ROBO calls but don't sue cuz of it.— August 23, 2017 5:33 p.m.

The making of a San Diego county supervisor via CNN
Been here a long time Monaghan and there have been a few "heartcentered" electeds both republicans and democrats. Leon Williams, former County Supervisor, George Stevens, Susan Davis, Clair Burgener, Dede Alpert, Lucy Killea, Mike Gotch, and Marty Block are a few that come to mind. All of them "cut their teeth" at the local level, they just needed the chance to show effective leadership.— March 7, 2017 5:14 p.m.

Ah yes Monaghan lots of retreds and losers lining up to take over Supervisor Robert's seat in 2018 and Matt is just taking a close look at the Emperor without substance. I appreciate it. And thank goodness it will take a vote of the people, no one is entitled to have their name on any chair, you gotta earn it. Take a look at Omar Passons, I am liking and appreciating Omar Passons, a man born into foster care raised by a white family (he is black) active in his community and involved in regional visioning and strategic and economic opportunities, not just his own. Omar was born raised and educated here in San Diego; went away to college, achieved a graduate degree in health care and a legal degree from George Mason and came back home to give back. We have always done well with heartcentered leadership that have strong deep roots in our neighborhoods. The region does not give it's blessings or votes to folks who carpetbag into a district in order to run for political office. We appreciate authenticity in our appointed and elected officials. Oh and about CNN's Jake Tapper and Nathan and their newly minted "bromance" at Dem convention 2016? I think it tells us a lot about what Nathan believes is most important, taking selfies with historical people like John Lewis, President Clinton, Sec. Hillary Clinton, VP Biden and President Obama and then posting on social media so maybe, just maybe we will all believe he is a democrat after 37 years a self described conservative republican from University City and Poway. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.— February 28, 2017 7:42 a.m.

Here is a recent bio of Mr. Gonzalez. No mention of his political parties over the years. Did he really train "Nobel Prize-winning human rights activists in the developing world?" Enjoy. Former Assemblyman, 75th District, State of California & Marine Veteran Nathan Fletcher is a dynamic leader whose life experiences range from leading classified human intelligence missions in combat zones and being decorated for valor under fire, to passing landmark legislation as an elected official, to training Nobel Prize-winning human rights activists in the developing world, to completing an Ironman Triathlon and climbing some of the world's highest mountains. He is currently a Professor of Practice in Political Science at UC San Diego and Founder and Chairman of the Three Wise Men Foundation, a veteran-focused nonprofit. Mr. Fletcher also serves as the Senior Director of Global Strategic Initiatives at Qualcomm Technologies, a Fortune 500 company, where he leads business and strategic initiatives globally to identify, develop, and expand opportunities where technology has the power to positively transform people’s lives. Photo below is Newt Gingrich just in case he forgot his republican roots. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2017/j…— January 27, 2017 11 a.m.

Suffering from amnesia Nathan? Let's not forget, Nathan Fletcher was chief of staff, for 3 years, to felon Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham. Cunningham had to resign from Congress after pleading guilty to accepting at least $2.4 million in bribes and under-reporting his taxable income for 2004. He pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud and tax evasion. Cunningham was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison and was ordered to pay $1.8 million in restitution. Just making sure we remember Nathan Fletcher, who partied with Karl Rove and President George W. Bush, was a conservative republican before he was an independent and eventually 2 years ago a democrat. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2017/j…— January 25, 2017 5:03 p.m.
Uptown preservationists sue city
Geranium - You are correct, "community group that exists expressly to advise the planning department and city council on the community's thoughts on development issues." Key word here "advise." I have been at many these meetings for over 17 years, and if you think that Uptown Planners has been a cross cultural group of all property owners, renters, small business owners in the Uptown neighborhoods, you are the one who is naive. JMissionHills is correct when he says the leaders of this group are Barry Hager, Tom Mullany, along with their pals Janet O'dea and her beloved. Their delays and suits cost a project I was involved in Mission Hills over $350,000 in attorneys fees to take it to the full council on an appeal. And even then they lied about the truth. Don't get me wrong, we raised 4 beautiful children in Mission Hills, when it was a diverse beautiful neighborhood. By the time the NIMBY'S moved in neighbors there was fighting and a "civil war" of sorts broke out in our quiet neighborhood. It became so ugly we moved our 4 kids out of the neighborhood. And I will write it again, if you think that Todd Gloria is only a politician...they why did he win over 80% of the "elite of the city?" Sorry, there are not 80% that qualify as "elite." But there are 80% who think Todd Gloria is one of the most honest and qualified individuals to come along and is a real leader rather than pandering to a few whose would rather define crumbling parking lots and restaurants as "character" instead of the blight they are, than compromise like adults and bring about a change we can all be excited about. My eldest son use to say, "Let them put up gates and they can close the gates at night and roll up the streets..."— January 7, 2017 7:25 a.m.
Uptown preservationists sue city
Sorry I have absolutely no respect for Mission Hills Heritage. They continue to hold our urban experience hostage to a small loud constituency, who think they care about the world, but really they only care about the value of their homes. Even the original membership of MHH were people who were new to Mission Hills and pushed for it to be a historic district, against many of the neighbors. Those of us who have lived here for over 30 years understand we need to change it up. (Pun intended) If San Diego is to become a city of the future, with a decrease in carbon footprints to save the planet and affordable housing, we must embrace density, especially along transit opportunities. Assemblyman Todd Gloria is not shameful, he is a leader and good for him, he disregarded a few loud voices for entire neighborhoods in Banker's Hill, Hillcrest and Mission Hills. No one is hiding under a cover of climate change or affordable housing. These are realities today and we must grow up and change. Visit Portland, Denver, Seattle, Baltimore, and other progressive cities that understand we have to embrace density, diversity and affordable housing to move forward. Please SOHO and Mission Hills Heritage don't continue to advocate for San Diego to not grow up. You can stay here and have toddler tantrums, but many of us want these changes, and they have absolutely nothing to do with a developer. Personally I do not know who the developer is but I appreciate their vision and hope this law suit won't kill the clean up of Pericano's and the entrance at 6th Avenue and University. It is ugly. Let's gather together and be a community and not let this small group of naysayers and NIMBY'S get away with this!! http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2017/j…— January 6, 2017 7:42 p.m.
Homeless PR agent
Let's not be too cynical. Sometimes things happen and there is nothing to it except that finally it happened. Stacie Spector was a perfect selection for our region. At least the city had the guts to finally hire a person with the intelligence, political acumen to handle county egos who hang onto to their services monies, an elegant, refined woman to help bring many municipalities, cities, county, providers and businesses to the table for real solutions for the homeless problem. Let's get on board and help Stacie instead of throwing cold water.— November 3, 2016 9:18 a.m.
