Bolt Brewery rebirth
Summer of '87 Loren Nancarrow, local roving reporter, had a segment on Bolt in Fallbrook. Bunch of happy rowdy guys behind him holding pint glasses & hooting. Roadtrip! Next few Sundays, 4-5 of us piling in a convertible from PB for great times, although a few memories are lodged in a brain lobe forever locked. Thanks Clint... From Frank, Larry, departed Trapper, and other old pals.— April 28, 2020 5:30 a.m.

Trump bump-restart reported for Peter Navarro
Every time I see the word tariff mentioned as part of our trade policies I wonder why VAT (value added taxes) aren't part of the discussion.— February 28, 2018 7:19 a.m.
82 San Diego workers filed minimum wage complaints last year
'Beginning 1980..." Hmmm... Ronny Reagan.— July 14, 2017 11:08 a.m.

Could Major League Soccer kick the city where it counts?
1) I believe the NFL would love to have San Diego on the list for the annual party it throws for billionaires and huge corporations. After New Orleans & Miami, is there a better city to host the Super Bowl? 2) Knowing that soccer tickets won't cost $150 game, the sports popularity among the youth, and with the diverse population we have, I do believe attendance could average well over 20,000/game. 3) I'm sure the revenue from the football programs at Ohio St and Alabama, for example, goes a long way to funding other sports and recreation for both sexes. Has a study been done on the Aztecs football revenue and potential? With the right marketing and schedule, I think they could thrive in the right venue.— March 8, 2017 4:17 p.m.
County loses jobs, unemployment rises
Perhaps the minimum wage 10% increase had something to do with food service jobs too.— March 3, 2017 1:30 p.m.
Mexican beer, craft beer, and the Trump effect
Since Reagan income based on productivity has been on a steady decline. Is it possible that the growth of the Mexican imports is because they simply are more affordable? Probably close to $130/keg vs. $180 and up? There are many places now selling San Diego craft beer $7 per 13 oz. glass. Pacifico, very popular here, is usually at least a dollar cheaper. And our local economy is fairly strong. $7 for 13 oz. of swill is tough to swallow anywhere.— February 4, 2017 6:13 a.m.
Trump goes swamp fishing
Imagine IIIFFF (that's a big IF) the roles were reversed. Clinton won because of election fraud (not voter fraud), Interstate Crosscheck (look it up), gerrymandering, etc. She tweets, appoints idiots, and makes even the slightest stupid remark. The corporate press would be all over it and impeachment hearings would already be in effect. Bin Laden got a last laugh, now Putin is smiling. Maybe our last hope is getting money out of politics. https://movetoamend.org/ http://www.wolf-pac.com/— January 30, 2017 9:28 a.m.
San Diego Brewing Co. cranks up for realsies
Best of luck to you guys...I remember stops at the original Callahan's buried in the mall for a blueberry wheat. Sometime around 1990 I believe. I forget you were second in the city and 3rd in the county after Bolt in Fallbrook. Looking forward to visiting and hoping you pick 1 weekday to open early for us old farts that hate traffic.— January 19, 2017 6:59 a.m.
