Eating for Pennies at Benny’s
This is my favorite little taco shop EVER. Been going here off and on for 20+ years. Now that I'm back living just around the corner, I'm here damn near every day. The food is amazing and won't break your wallet. The staff is also really great and friendly too. Try it, you won't be sorry. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!— June 29, 2012 12:19 p.m.
Embrace the Suck
Well... I hate to say it, but I think the death knell is being heard on what was once my beloved FM 94/9. They have changed so much in the last three years, and not in a good way. They haven't just lost their way, they lost their own vision and core philosophy that made the station so unique and appealing in the first place. Gone are Desert Island Discs, gone are the Blues Break, Insider takeovers, Coup De'Tat..... replaced with call in radio contests and talk over the beginnings and endings of songs. You know, that thing they prided themselves on NEVER doing? Worst of all? Gone is the integrity. It's not "About the Music" anymore, and hasn't been for a while now. This truly is a damn shame. FM 94/9 used to be everything I could have ever wanted in a radio station. Now? Now I think I'll go back to 91X full time, where with Halloran, Steve West, and now music director Robin Roth back at the mics, things might be the way they should be in San Diego alternative radio. At least....as much as they can be. RIP FM 94/9....— June 27, 2012 3:19 p.m.
May Star’s Diamond Dust Debuts at Kitty Diamond
Yeah....totally not ok with the name change at all. The Flame has been an icon in Hillcrest for decades. I get wanting to change things up. Fine. Gut the inside, as has been done at least a dozen times before, but leave the name. It's name is it's history. The place burned to the ground years ago and was rebuilt and crowned "The Flame". To change it now is just silly, especially given that the name still fits the format change. Oh, and also, Club Sabbat is only there on the 2nd and 5th Saturdays. On the 4th Saturdays it's at Numbers across the street.— May 17, 2012 2:49 p.m.
