Downtown homeless people driven north by cops
North Park, but it then went to crap too...although I moved for different reasons. All I can say is that while we all should be more civic minded and get involved in our communities, the way the sociopolitical and economic system is run keeps us in a rat race and more or less purposely hinders our ability to make changes in an ideal time. If more people got involved changes would happen, but people need to understand that planning improvements might take up to, though hopefully not, a decade to reach fruition. Just look at City Heights, why does the area behind Pancho Villa Market get referred to as City Heights West now? Miss North Park, miss San Diego...but what the hell sometimes you can't help but reminisce and then get saddened by the facts. When you live outside of the bubble you can see all sorts of solutions, but you can't do a thing about them while living outside of it...terrible paradox, sight without being able to act.— February 9, 2018 2:09 a.m.

E-lynched in Barrio Logan
Left that place right after becoming a single parent, worked like crazy the year before my daughter turned two, but with my tax refund I invested wisely and...got the hell out. I saw no point in living there, since the rent no longer allowed savings...and home-ownership there at the time was littered with ARM offers, even with a decent credit score. There are some wonderful families and people trying to make something out of the place, but I just didn't see a point. Unless you raise local community home-ownership rates substantially you really don't have a community, you just have renters with a shared ethno cultural background, because at any moment they can be replaced; so no long term investment, involvement or development will take place otherwise. This would have been a great opportunity for people to approach Ms. Niezgoda and offer some insights or perhaps encourage her to seek a local partner from the community, maybe even members of the community could have set up a gofund me for the chosen local partner; but even that wasn't offered--only a racist cultural lynch mob ensued. It's sad, what's worse is the hypocrisy of the Mexican culture that argues for the use of the Spanish language to the point of exhaustion, but hardly ever bats an eye lid for the plight and near extinction of the indigenous languages of the Americas, much less the exclusion of Native Americans or Native Latin Americans. Excluding others as you have been excluded only makes you look as bad as them...— December 28, 2017 2:23 a.m.
Community not happy with North Park park
3 yrs and 9 months later, although I am happy that I left--I did grow to love North Park for the time I lived there. 4 years later, I moved to Scandinavia and honestly I can say you get what you pay for and you reap what you sow. Warnings were there but no one ever listens. It's not just the park, it's the whole country. But you have to decided what kind of country you want yo have and in what kind of society you want your children to grow up. It's really sad, but you people won't change.— September 22, 2017 12:12 a.m.
Working class stiffed in Barrio Logan project?
Just bulldoze the whole area, they've had a long time to get their act together...All the long term residents shave had year to organise and buy up home and businesses. It's an ugly are with no value, if it did they would have taken care of it. Now all those gangsters have to move somewhere else I suppose.— March 18, 2017 11:24 a.m.
More trucks to barrel through Barrio Logan
How about just relocating all the people there to more appropriate areas? I understand the history of the community there, but the pollution is just too much to justify remaining there, unless they completely rezoned the area. Besides it's nothing but a cesspool of poverty and gangs, why would anyone wish to remain there? You can't even walk outside after 5pm or take a decent jog. I lived there for a while to save money, then got out as soon as I saved enough, I just can't see myself or anyone with a sense of standards and decency raising his or her kids there. Get rid of it, it's as awful today as the Five Points were in New York over a century ago.— September 23, 2016 7:43 a.m.
