Rancho Santa Fe’s John Eggemeyer III faces more scrutiny with his small banks
Just curious how does one research the financial health of our local banks. Attempted this last week with no success. Do you know of any good web sites for this purpose? Thank you.— July 25, 2008 9:49 a.m.
Amid losses, newspapers take on debt
Hey lets buy that paper and call the new one "Page 17". Because that is where most newspapers put the news if at all. Only this one will put the entertainment on page 17. Any takers? lol— July 4, 2008 11:57 a.m.

Will and I got married for the extra $1452 Navy pay
Fun article to read thanks for the entertainment. Brought back memories when I was on the Constellation (aircraft carrier) when Vietnam started in 64. Was in a squadron from Miramar. I made $99/month (about .13/hour) lol, which didn't include flight deck pay or hazardous duty pay because there wasn't enough alloted for everyone. Worked 12-16 hour days for months at a time (no such thing as Saturday or Sunday). I was in charge of a secret project that saved lives of pilots and rio's. I was in trouble constantly until I got involved with this project. Totally loved it and willingly worked many long hours. Pardon my long rant. Just wanted to say the Navy can and has sucked although I was more responsible then I liked to admit. Much bad with even more good.— May 9, 2008 8:13 a.m.
William F. Buckley Dead at 82; In San Diego, He Complained of the Wine's Quality
Mr. Buckley was not easy to follow. Yes he used more words from the dictionary then most in his discourse. He tended to express arrogance and distaste for the common man and specially liberals. He loved to just out talk you. His explanations were long and convoluted. To my view complexity is usually about hiding something not about uncover and discover. I am surprised at the responses to what he was about at the political level.— February 28, 2008 11:25 a.m.
