North County Times says goodbye to longtime film critic Dan Bennett
Scott, just to clarify, I haven't been on staff at the NCT for a few years (actually started at the Blade-Citizen in 1986, with first movie review published elsewhere in 1979), though I did contribute movie reviews as a freelancer after I left the paper. Those slowed down and eventually disappeared as space became tight, but I was able to do other types of writing. I voluntarily ended my time as an occasional contributor a few months ago, and I have moved on to other things. I am grateful to the NCT and all the opportunities I had there. It's a good group of people. Meanwhile, I'm confident that there are enough resourceful film critics that voices will continue to be heard. People seem to like reading/hearing about movies from a critical perspective.— December 7, 2012 2:43 p.m.
