Natural products trade group announces opposition to Prop 37
You either believe in consumers' right to know what is in their food or you don't. There is absolutely nothing "natural" about food ingredients developed in biotech labs. The problem with the Natural Products Association is that they have allowed the word "natural" to become meaningless. There is no criteria that is required to label any product natural, and the Natural Products Association knows that many of the manufacturers that they represent peddle "natural" foods with genetically modified ingredients. I support Prop 37, because I have the right to know what I'm feeding my family.— October 3, 2012 4:26 p.m.
Lawsuits loom if Prop 37 passes, say opponents of labeling genetically modified foods
As a mom, I have the right to know what is in the food that I'm feeding my family. Prop 37 would provide consumers with the ability to make informed decisions regarding what they purchase and feed their families. Biotech companies already disclose this information to over 40 countries. Why do Americans have to settle for any less?— October 3, 2012 4:13 p.m.
Washington-Based Think Tank Suggests Prop 37 Labeling Goes Too Far
I support Prop 37 and the labeling of GMO foods. As a mom, I want to know what's in the food that I'm feeding my family. I don't think it is possible to have "too much" information when it comes to the health and well-being of my family. Let us know what is in our food and let us decide, based on that knowledge, whether we want to buy it or not. It is deceitful to try scare families with the threat of higher food prices, when there is not any factual information supporting that statement. In countries where mandatory labeling is already required, there has been no increase in the cost of food. How simplistic to believe that GMO food is the solution to sustain the world's population and solve the issue of hunger in the world.— October 3, 2012 3:59 p.m.
