U-T using charities to boost circulation
2018 looks even better. It'll be the LA Times (San Diego Edition).— May 2, 2017 6:58 a.m.
Chargers now on KFI AM 640
KFI was the home of the (then) Los Angeles **Raiders** as well as the LA **Dodgers**. The 50,000-watt station's antenna is near the LA / Orange County line and can be viewed from the 5 freeway (and has a top-hat). The city-grade signal covers nearly half of San Diego county. It was, at one time, one of the better-rated stations in San Diego county. When the rating service cut station rankings for non-subscribing stations outside the market, they and others (like KNX, KBIG) dropped from the San Diego rolls. AM 640 still pulls a sizable audience, especially in North County. Clear Channel/iHeart Media's claim to be home of the Chargers could be short lived considering the company announced they (iHeart) could be in bankruptcy court in late 2017 or early 2018.— April 28, 2017 9:18 a.m.
