Mars highrise opens Normal Heights to SDSU students
You failed to mention that at the April meeting of the Normal Heights Community Planning Group, with over 100 community members present, the board voted to oppose the Mars Project as currently planned. The city council rep confirmed that the site is NOT in a Transit Priority Area and as such does not qualify for any of the height, parking, and impact fee waivers that the developer is trying to capitalize on. The rent listed in the article is incorrect, $2K/month is for some of the 13 "affordable" units, the other 162 "market-rate" units will cost much more than that. This is not the right project for this community. Seamus Garland needs to #FollowTheRules and work with the community. We support density and development, we support Smart Growth, this project is not that. https://sites.google.com/view/nh-mars http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2022/a…— April 27, 2022 11:08 a.m.
Seniors try to save old Adams Avenue cop shop
The land is not for sale, the land is to be used for park space. The building was deemed uninhabitable, twice. Here are the plans for the park that were approved decades ago, we just need the city to finish the park as planned! http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2018/j…— January 23, 2018 5:18 p.m.
Kensington controversy
There are so many offensive statements in this article. I understand that the author was quoting interviewees, but they could've chosen to leave out the racial slurs and offensive comments. The house painted like a "taco stand" mentioned by another commenter was the mildest, "Irish twins" is super offensive and calling the area south of Adams "Baja Kensington" is straight-up racist. Kensington may be a cute little overpriced neighborhood, but if this representative of its residents, I'll take the the less pristine, more diverse neighboring Normal Heights any day.— January 19, 2017 2:56 p.m.
