Cathedral Catholic invited to state bowl game
The toughest schelude? You are myopic ? This illustrates the self-absorbed and elitist perception of Cathedral parents. By the way, I like the "F Bombs" that this Catholic school was dropping on their You-Tube video. Classy, yet I guess you dont have to be if you hide behind money, politics, and neptism. Neptism as in their parents lives has helped this overrated program get a undeserved State Bowl. If Oceanside didnt tie, they would have recieved the State bid. They still deserved it though, since they won the common opponent factor, held their opponents to 12.66 points per game to Cathedrals 30.0 per game, played 4 ranked teams, and simply play at a higher level. Just watch the 2 games from Friday, and you will see the obvious difference in levels. Cathedral plays in slow motion, they dont hit as hard, they cant pass, they essentially are a one man team that plays against lower level D-III teams. How can a weak Lincoln HS score 32 points on them ? Oceanside beat them 41-0 ? From the begining they needed a excuse to send them, and the tie was it. Their are other teams that are playing the State Bowl that lost 1-2 games and got in over the undefeated teams. Neptism strikes again, and unfortunelty it is the driving force for many in life ! Sad, but it all eventually equals out.— December 15, 2008 12:14 p.m.
Division II: Oceanside vs. Helix
Here is the true facts. Common opponents, Oceanside outscored the common opponents by 94 points. Cathedral by 69 points. The biggest and most powerful factor is, Oceanside held these common opponents to a average of 12.66 points per game, while Cathedral a whopping 30.0 points per games. Cathedral allowed a weak Lincoln High to score 32 points on them? While the Oceanside Pirates shut them out 41-0. Virtually all teams with a pulse make the playoffs (not a strong argument). Oceanside played 4 ranked teams, while Cathedral played only 1. Oceanside has won 5 CIF in a row with the "big boys" and have not been defeated in 25 games. But, the biggest factor, again the biggest factor was evident Friday night. And many people agreed, the Cathedral vs Valhalla game looked like it was in slow-motion. The passes floated in air,the hitting was not as hard, the precision, and speed of the game was at a far lower level than the D-II championship. To simply state, the Cathdral vs Valhalla game looked like what it was, lower level weak D-III football. It was obvious to the eye, and literally just a step above D-IV with only one good player on the field Gaffney. It was D-III at its best, which is a step slower, step down in skill, and mainly in the hitting aspect. Facts are facts, but the eye doesnt lie ! But, if all you see is this slow-motion D-III football then you have nothing to compare it to. It was the "tie" Oceanside had that allowed the one man team to obtain number 1 in combination with the pressure to put a undefeated team to that spot ignoring all facts and intangebles.— December 14, 2008 11:04 p.m.
