8 years without a raise. Can you imagine how it would be without union representation? Conservative School Boards would cut wages and benefits without consideration of the teachers or other workers. Many will decry the unions but unions are about representation. Without representation and an employment contract one is left to their own devices. In today economy the unrepresented have no chance of gaining any economic ground.

At any time, "Jane Doe" could have just gone and reported the alleged rape. I wonder why she didn't. She "feared for her safety", and instead of calling the police, went back to the same school officials who supposedly "refused to take action".

"Doe also claims that the men were allowed to introduce false evidence during the hearing" They could make the same claim, that she's the one providing "false evidence". They could ask why someone is allowed to make anonymous accusations against them but they weren't being allowed to mount a defense.

There's more to this story. I'm always EXTREMELY skeptical when I hear, "Here's a sad tale, you must believe it 100%, you cannot question it, you must accept it at face value or you're a monster." We already live in a society where some allegations, like rape, are considered to be a final proof of guilt in too many cases. We're far better off questioning and looking for the truth instead of accepting the immediate visceral reaction.

can't be worse than past ownership ... much better off with Broad, Beutner & Co. any day over Murdoch, Papa Doug, Platinum or Copley ...

Visduh: The objective of charter schools is to break teachers' unions. That is bad policy. We lose too many good teachers now. If the union is smashed and teacher pay goes down, education will suffer even more. Best, Don Bauder

Delaware North claims ownership of the Ahwahnee Hotel name? Incredible and appalling. There's no question DN destroyed the charming and colorful ambiance" created by Diane Powers in Bazaar del Mundo, but as I recall Ms. Powers still paid $1 a year in rent even at the end of her very successful tenure there -- and that was ridiculous too. Bungling all around in Old Town, but the Yosemite name-grab is sacrilege.

Your ignorance about unions and how they operate is without bounds. There is nothing in the article about unions or their members. Your hate for unions is hate for workers. The corrupt history of SCC has everything to do with corrupt administrators/board members and pay-to-play contractors but the facts will never get in your way when it comes to pontificating about something you know nothing about.
