Croce's
- 802 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101 | Directions
- 619-233-4355 | Website
Croce's is out — of downtown — and in, to Bankers Hill. Like Café Bassam before it, the beloved live music icon had to abandon downtown and retreat up the hill because it had been too successful. It sounds as though Croce's Park West (which opened in early January) will be pretty much the same, but the Gaslamp won't. A bit more life has just been sapped from it.

The food here is expensive, didn't impress me much. So, unless you're a jazz lover and are going to stay for the music (which doesn't have a cover if you had dinner there), or you want to impress a date, not worth the trip.
A lot of tourists like stopping in to see Ingrid Croce (she wasn't just Jim's wife....she also used to sing with him before she had throat cancer).
She's also a sweetheart to talk with.
