UCSD's Department of Music maintains multiple stages inside the Conrad Prebys Music Center (CPMC), including the 400-seat Conrad Prebys Concert Hall, a 170 seat Recital Hall, and the Experimental Theater, which boasts a variable digital acoustics system.

Financing for a Music Center was approved by the UC System in late 2006, and construction began in 2007. The $53-million Music Center was completed in May 2009 after receiving two donations totaling $9 million from local philanthropist Conrad Prebys.

The main concert hall is among the most acoustically pristine medium-capacity venue in San Diego. There are regular “telematic” concerts, which pair improvisers at UCSD with performers in different geographic locations, playing in real time through the magic of the internet. The acoustics of the Concert Hall were the final project of acoustician Cyril M. Harris' career, who retired following the completion of the hall.
