Squash plant.  I drove to Nurseryland and cornered an older, haughty worker and confronted him with my problem. He did not, I could tell, consider me a serious gardener.

I planted a moonflower after burying my father

My plants reminded me of saints and monsters.

During the next several days, the worms ate their way through my radishes, arugula, and beets. They munched happily — I watched them — on my sunflowers and on my moonflower vines. They ate the leaves in a clean, irregular fashion.
