I don’t know why we expanded like this. I guess I’m a damn fool and like to work and create things. We had to have jobs, industry. San Diego wasn’t like Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Steel.
After I got into the Bank of Italy, Johnny Alessio was still shining shoes and doing everything he could to make money. I knew the Banco Nacional was looking for someone who could speak Spanish and English. So I told Johnny to go on down there and apply.
