She & Him: A Tribute To Brian Wilson

Actress Zooey Deschanel and guitarist M. Ward come to Humphrey's to promote their upcoming album which pays tribute to Beach Boys songwriter Brian Wilson

Occasional actress Zooey Deschanel channels her rock and roll muse with guitarist and producer M. Ward in a duo they call She & Him. Singer Deschanel plays piano and ukulele on their 2008 debut full-length Volume One. Their current Melt Away Tour is being launched to promote their seventh album, which pays tribute to Beach Boys songwriter Brian Wilson (whose 2015 LP No Pier Pressure showcases the duo on vocals).

OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off

Street Fair 2011

Enjoy oceanfront chili cook-off, food and merchandise vendors, three stages of continuous music (Dave Gilbert Band and others), the Community Mural Project, and artist alley of local artisans and crafters. Fun zone of inflatables, games, and music area for attendees to stop by and learn to play a simple song by one of Rock & Roll San Diego’s musicians. The Chili Cook-Off competition will have 20 tastings in both amateur and restaurant divisions. Chili chefs compete to take home Best Restaurant Chili, Best Amateur Chili, Judge’s Choice, and People’s Choice. Chili tastings will begin at 11 am and conclude when contestants run out of samples, typically around 1 pm.
