Too many tourists near Belmont Park

Kelsey Gonzalez’s mom used to push her into waves and encourage her to surf the white wash. Her mom later took her to Bali on a surf trip.

“I used to wear this shirt all the time that said, ‘My mom surfs better than your dad,’”

The only San Diego beach that Kelsey avoids is Mission Beach down by Belmont Park. “It’s way too crowded, way too many tourists. The etiquette just is not there at all. Rule of thumb usually is, if someone is on a wave first, they get it.”
