Favorite Surf spot?: PB Point

How long have you been surfing? “Since I was 7 yeas old. I’m on the Mission Bay High School surf team, and I’ve been competing in surf competitions for a long time now. My favorite surfing moment was coming in first place overall in the Sun Diego AM SLAM Surf Contest for women’s longboard. For me, competing is fun, but it can be stressful depending on the competition and who I am up against.”

Do you ever experience sexism in the water? “Definitely. I cut off this guy once on a wave and he started calling me all these [demeaning] names. Whenever I go out surfing, it’s always a bunch of boys out there. It just feels weird sometimes.”

What do you love most about surfing? “I love being able to go out there by myself to have fun. When I start applying to colleges I will definitely take the location of good surf spots into consideration.”
