10,000 Years: San Diego’s Archeological Record

Cindy Stankowski leads a Living Room Lecture on 10,000 years of San Diego history and a new understanding of the past.

Over 36,000 archaeological sites have been discovered in San Diego County. People have lived in the region for over 10,000 years; and these sites contain their material culture. This presentation will reveal what archaeology has uncovered about the ancient peoples who called San Diego home. Free virtual Living Room Lecture via Zoom. Guest speaker: Cindy Stankowski.

Diet Cig Livestream

Diet Cig. Proceeds to support NIVA & The Okra Project.

Diet Cig will be playing their first ticketed show in support of their recently released album Do You Wonder About Me? (Frenchkiss Records). The livestream takes place via the NoonChorus platform. Half of the show proceeds to be donated between the Okra Project and host music venues such as the Masquerade, Cat’s Cradle, Mississippi Studios, Neumos, 930 Club, Margin Walker, Rickshaw Stop, Kilby Court, and San Diego’s Casbah.

Newport Folk Festival

Leon Bridges is one of the many never-before-seen live performances in the Newport Folk Festival Revival weekend.

Deer Tick and friends are among the performers slated for this year’s virtual edition of the long-running Newport Folk Festival. It kicks off with a salute to Mavis Staples on day one, and guest performers on day two include Leon Bridges, Robert Ellis, Sharon Van Etten, The Tallest Man On Earth, and Courtney Marie Andrews. On the final day, there will be a free online screening of the film Our Voices Together, with performances from Brandi Carlile, Jim James, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters with Lucius, and Jason Isbell.

When: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday July 31 through August 2, 5 pm
