Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge

The Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club was founded in 1981 in Mission Bay. Today, the ocean challenge is one of the longest running paddlesport races in California (OC-1, Surfski, Traditional Paddleboard, Standup Paddleboard and Kayak). Expect athletes and beginners from ages 7 to 80. Register beforehand to join the race, or just come out to be a spectator.

Take a trip back in time through visits to nineteen sites that are in some level of deterioration. Examples include Old Highway 80, the California Theater, and the San Diego Flume.

Hike into López Canyon in Rancho Penasquitos to learn about the Ramon López Homestead— a small turn-of-the-century dairy farm. Visit the orchard and the Old Road, and see the remains of the house, barn, and milking station. Find out about the historical importance of the López family, which produced some of the finest horsemen of early San Diego. Meet at the West End Parking Staging Area.
