Baltazar’s modern take on the Canadian tuxedo

After grabbing an iced latte fromCommunal Coffee, one of my favorite coffee shops in South Park, I spotted Baltazar, looking polished in a casual denim-on-denim ensemble. I later learned that he is a stylist at All Saints, which explained why he looked so fashion-forward. I personally have never shopped at All Saints, because I know that their clothing is outside of my budget, but I know that they make high quality leather jackets, among other things. Baltazar went on to tell me that he could splurge on items from All Saints since he worked for the company and geot a few perks. His slightly oversized denim jacket ($198), heather gray long-sleeve shirt ($98), cigarette-style jeans ($150), and matte leather boots ($350) were all from All Saints. His gold-rimmed aviator sunglasses were from Ray-Ban ($150).

When I asked him what he liked best about working retail, he responded “I love clothes! I like interacting with people and helping them find outfits. Styling people is fun and rewarding.” When it came to shopping, Baltazar said he prefers going into actual stores. “I have never been a fan of online shopping unless I’ve shopped for that item before. I like to see, feel, and try on items.”

Baltazar’s go-to everyday look is always jeans with a t-shirt or a simple button-up shirt with white sneakers. Now that it’s fall, I asked him to name a few staples in his closet. He answered, “I think denim jackets are essential. A nice, lightweight bomber jacket is always good to have as well.”

I asked Baltazar what article of clothing every guy should have in his closet and he told me, “I feel like every guy should always have a good pair of jeans. You can dress them up or dress them down.”

“If a guy is looking to find fashion inspiration or guidance, he should resort to Instagram. You can find a lot of inspo for fashion-related things on this social media platform. But I am still very old school, I love fashion magazines. GQ, Men’s Vogue, Esquire, Vman — these are just a few of my favorites.”
