- The museum is an antidote to what ICR considers “anti-biblical” evolutionist propaganda of the sort seen at San Diego’s venerable Museum of Man, particularly “ape-men” presented as prehuman ancestors, human kinship with animals, and life as millions of years old. At 4000 square feet, ICR’s museum compares favorably in size to the Museum of Man’s Early Man hall, though exhibit space in the whole Museum of Man totals almost five times ICR’s.

The best backyard in San Diego
- A cool coastal breeze, worming its way up through Mission Gorge, ruffles the mirrorlike surfaces of the seven Santee Lakes, and sets cottonwood leaves aflutter. A damp, wholly agreeable odor permeates the wooded shorelines. Does it spoil this pleasant experience to realize that these bathtub-shaped impoundments store reclaimed waste water, used for irrigation since 1962?

Pardee Homes agrees to redesign project in Santee
- Environmental groups have claimed victory in a lawsuit against Pardee Homes to prevent what they feel would be irreparable harm to the San Diego River in Santee. John Buse, attorney for the Center for Biological Diversity, says the two sides reached an agreement that will require the developer to redesign the massive housing development and remove potential environmental impacts.

Santee – where everyone wants to live
- Most people who drive past the old green and white Dutch-style barn on North Magnolia Avenue in Santee, on their way to one of the freeways or to the nearby strip malls, don’t know what secrets it holds. Some long-time residents know that the building is home to the historical society, but before that — more than 100 years ago — it was where the wealthiest people in San Diego came to play and relax.

A name change for Santee?
- In a typical day, our children romp up and down the street playing at no less than four of one another’s houses. There are at least ten pairs of trusted parental eyes gazing at them as they traverse the neighborhood. It takes a village indeed. And my teen daughter laments, “We never get away with anything here — it’s like having 15 friggin’ moms.”

Santee townsfolk want Dirty Chris dealt with
- Some homeowners on Carefree Drive, Peaceful Court and Restful Court in Santee aren’t getting the tranquility they bargained for. The Carefree condominium complex off Magnolia Avenue and across the street from Santana High School, say residents, is plagued by drug addicts committing crimes.

Carlton Oaks Golf Course, TY Investment, and the San Diego River Conservancy
- A Santee company has been trying since 2008 to buy a chunk of land along the north bank of the San Diego River. The property is situated on a little finger of eastern San Diego that pokes into Santee. The 65.4-acre parcel is part of the Carlton Oaks Golf Course. Half of the course’s fairways lie in Santee and half in San Diego. TY Investment, Inc., bought the golf course in 2007 and has been leasing the property from San Diego’s Public Utilities Department for $250,000 per year.
