Rancho Santa Fe’s Irene Valenti runs a matchmaking service claiming to tie rich and/or talented women with rich and/or talented men. However, as revealed a year ago, she herself wouldn’t qualify for a match. She went into Chapter 7 (liquidation) bankruptcy in 2012 and was hit with around 30 civil fraud lawsuits when the purported matches didn’t work out.

Irene Valenti: “The business is not in trouble.”

She still has troubles. This Friday (August 31) her home at 16275 Via De La Valle, Rancho Santa Fe, will go up for foreclosure auction at 9 am at the East County Regional Center, El Cajon. Zillow’s foreclosure estimate is $2.6 million and the opening bid is at $2.1 million. The estimated mortgage is $11,803 a month. She uses this home as her office. She has another Rancho Santa Fe home.

“The business is not in trouble,” she says. “I am just a humble person. I have been doing this a long time.”

She has been battling in court with her son, Steven Valenti, who was living at the De La Valle home with his girlfriend and daughter until he was evicted — illegally, he says — by his mother, who disapproved of his girlfriend. She called the police on him June 20 and filed a declaration in Superior Court. He filed back, claiming she tried to run him over with her car. He filed a defamation complaint, saying she was telling others he was an alcoholic. Steven and the girlfriend object to her boyfriend’s suntanning in his underwear in sight of the ten-year-old daughter.

“My son and I have the most wonderful, loving relationship,” says Irene Valenti. “Families have difficulties. Sometimes the boat gets rocked."

Lifestyles of the richly restricted, almost famous. Guess Stevie doesn't understand that the free ride is over, everybody's gotta move on. Another reason why you should wean 'em early.

Ponzi: I called Wednesday and the auction was still on. The lady on the other end of the phone urged me to show up. It's a cash auction and the opening bid was to be $2.1 million. I didn't expect to go. I think I won't make it in October.

This is beyond amazing. I’ve known this family for awhile and never understood why Irene Valenti didn’t kick Steven to the curb long ago. This is a 47 year old man that has been living off his mother for years. I’m guessing it’s because of a “mother’s insticts” . Supporting him financially for the past 20 years or more. Now Steven has to learn how to SUPPORT his own family with a real job for a change.

guyanthony: Irene Valenti told me that she had her children at a very young age, and, in a sense, grew up with them. Recently, he was working for her, handling computer-related duties. Then there was the falling-out. She has had financial problems and has been sued a number of times by people who alleged they had contracted for her matchmaking service and got very little for their money. Best, Don Bauder
