Wristcutters: A Love Story takes place in a purgatory reserved for people who’ve committed suicide. No one smiles, everyone strolls through the monotony of having no future, and nothing works properly. It’s a boy-meets-girl story except for everyone is dead. At times it’s uncomfortable because everything walks the fine line of being terrible or bearable.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and based on a graphic novel, The Strain has this moody, surreal vibe that makes it a little more macabre than other horror shows. It’s a different take on the zombie genre. It starts with this mysterious viral outbreak that’s later revealed as an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. The story evolves into a dystopian view of New York and how politics can affect humanity’s fate.
