Beer, buffalo, and giant games at Burgers and Brews
Burgers and Brews
Try beer from Aztec Brewing, Border X, and Stone Brewing Company, sample burger sliders from Crazee Burger (your choice of buffalo, ostrich, wild boar, or wagyu beef), play giant lawn games, and explore the exhibits after-hours. Tickets include entrance to the museum, two sliders, a salad, and beer tastings. Each museum member can get one guest ticket at the museum member price of $20. Non-members, $30.

Manzanita Mountain Man Rendezvous
Step back in time and visit a mountain encampment with colorful characters from the French & Indian War to the California Gold Rush. You can shoot a blackpowder gun, throw a tomahawk, shoot a primitive bow and arrow, or just sit in the shade and listen to tall tales. There will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, candle-making, gunsmithing, woodworking, flint-and-steel fire making, archery, and tomahawk and knife throwing. Trader’s Row includes many period-accurate items on display and for sale. Also on Saturday.

Vanilla Ice, tacos, and chihuahuas at Waterfront Park
Entertainment includes Vanilla Ice, Mix Master Mike, Vokab Kompany, Sweet & Tender Hooligans, Fayuca, and Jarabe Mexicano. Thirty taco-centric San Diego restaurants restaurants will offer their signature taco plus an additional item from their in-store menu. Lucha Libre wrestling takes place throughout the day in between the band performances. New this year, in partnership with Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego, a chihuahua beauty pageant and chihuahua races. General admission includes entrance to the festival; tacos and beverages are an additional cost.

Fiesta del Sol
The 38th-annual event features musical performers booked by the Belly Up Tavern, an array of arts-and-crafts exhibits, children’s activities, an international-themed food court, and a beer-and-wine garden. Continuous live music includes Dead Man’s Party, Through the Roots, Betamaxx, Thicker Than Thieves, the Paragraphs, Atomic Groove, and Power Brokers Band on Saturday and Pato Banton, Anuhea, Nancarrow, Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, Pine Mountain Logs, Euphoria Brass Band, Zen Thomas, and Nena Anderson on Sunday.
Block after block of fun in North Park
North Park Festival of the Arts
The nine-square-block festival runs along University near 30th Street. The Live Art Block has urban artists creating works of art using everyday objects such as cars, refrigerators, and boom boxes. North Park Main Street and The Studio Door host a juried art exhibition at Gallery in the Street. This year local food and beverage vendors will be spotlighted at the Waypoint Craft Beer Block and the West Coast Cocktail Garden. The Kids Art Block has interactive activities. Various outdoor stages offer indie rock, blues, funk, and DJs throughout the day.
All things pirate at the Maritime Museum
Pirate Days includes kids’ costume contests, cannon firings, weapon demonstrations, sword fights, scary stories, a scavenger hunt for pirate treasure, the Royal French Privateers of Clan Darksail, and even a few mermaids. You can attend the add-on show Boarded! A New Pirate Adventure! on the Californian. The Parrot Education and Adoption Center will be on hand to discuss and show companion parrots up for adoption. See the Impractical Jokers live at the Civic Theatre
The Tenderloins are the creators, executive producers, writers, and stars of truTV’s Impractical Jokers. Now in its sixth season, the hidden-camera practical-joke reality series follows the four members — Joe Gatto, James Murray, Brian Quinn, and Sal Vulcano — as they try to out-prank each other. The live show is a mix of stand-up, videos, and behind-the-scenes stories. A 5 p.m. show was just added.
