Borrego Springs Adventure
Take a one-day motor-coach “edventure” to Borrego Springs from SDSU. The first stop is the historic Santa Ysabel Store, an emporium dating back to 1884. Ten minutes down the road is a docent-led tour of Warner-Carrillo Ranch House, a former stop on the Butterfield Stage Line. The group continues on Banner Grade road to the desert floor of Borrego Springs for a lunch (included) at the legendary Casa Del Zorro resort. Then you’ll visit the life-size metal sculptures of Ricardo Breceda. Before heading back, a final stop at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park for a short walk. Because of the recent rain, this year offers a spectacular “super bloom.” Motor-coach capacity is 44. $109 per person.
Brian Posehn has a lot going on, and he’s coming to town
Posehn has been seen on the acclaimed Netflix show Lady Dynamite, FX’s You’re the Worst, and had recurring roles on Big Bang Theory and New Girl. In the past several years he’s hosted popular comedy podcast Nerd Poker and co-written 45 issues of the best-selling Marvel comic Deadpool. Last year he had his first starring role in the dark indie comedy Uncle Nick. This year he will release his first book, Forever Nerdy, with essays about his life, plus a comedy metal album Offenders of the Fake, featuring metal legends from Anthrax, Dethklok, Slayer, and Soundgarden. LPGA Kia Classic
The Ladies Professional Golf Association’s eighth annual event features 144 top contenders playing for the $1.8 million purse. The field features 2016 Kia Classic Champion Lydia Ko and crowd favorites Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis, Michelle Wie, and Lexi Thompson. Runs through Sunday.

Saturday will showcase top-shelf tequila sampling and gourmet tacos along with live music, margaritas, craft beer, and art vendors. Sunday it’s the same thing, minus the tequila. Proceeds benefit The Gen Giammanco Foundation, providing financial support to college-bound student athletes. General admission $10; Saturday tequila sampling is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $40.

Chamorro Cultural Festival
The Chamorro Festival celebrates the arts, culture, customs, and people of the Mariana Islands (Guam, Saipan, Rota, and Tinian) with music and cultural dance performances, educational workshops, foods, and an array of products “to accentuate the Chamorro in everyone.” This year’s theme is “Ta Na’ La’la’ Gi Halom i Famagu’onta...i Lengguahita yan Kutturata,” which translates as “Let it live from within our children...our language and our culture.”

Hot Chocolate 5K & 15K
The race starts and ends at Petco Park. After crossing the finish line, racers are rewarded with mugs loaded with fondue and hot chocolate, plus pretzels, Rice Krispies Treats, cookie straws, and bananas. More than 4000 pounds of melted chocolate are prepared for each race. There are even “sweet stations” on the course to provide mid-race snacks. Last season, the Hot Chocolate Series generated over $200,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. San Diego is the 12th stop on a tour of 15 cities.
