— HP arrested subject with outstanding warrants aboard illegally moored vessel at Pepper Park dinghy dock. Vessel towed.

March 29

— HP located an abandoned vessel that was dragging anchor in the main channel near Ballast Point. Vessel had no registration or HIN and was towed for being a hazard to navigation.

March 28

— HP took a grand theft report for an outboard motor that was taken from a vessel in a North Bay marina.

March 27

— HP issued a citation to a subject who was illegally moored at the Harbor Police guest slips.

— HP took a grand theft report for property taken from a vessel in a North Bay marina.

March 26

— HP issued a citation for illegal anchoring to a boater in La Playa Cove.

— HP responded to the security booms surrounding the US Naval Aircraft Carrier Basin for the report of a subject in the water. With assistance from a US Naval Security vessel, HP located subject who was conscious, but disoriented and hypothermic. Subject transported by HP to US Coast Guard dock where SD Fire and paramedics continued with medical treatment and transported to hospital. Unknown how or where subject entered the water.

March 23

— HP responded to a fuel spill at the Cabrillo Isle Marina. The source vessel was located and it was determined that approximately 50 gallons of diesel was released into the bay. Report taken and the proper notifications were made.

March 21

— HP conducted an investigation in regards to criminal threats made between two boaters at Zuniga Jetty. Report taken and investigation continues.

March 20

— HP responded to a report of a vessel aground off of Point Loma. With assistance from S.D. Lifeguards, HP retrieved 2 occupants from the vessel who were then transported to Shelter Island for medical evaluation by S.D. Fire. The vessel was towed by Tow Boat U.S.

— HP observed a subject litter in San Diego Bay. The subject was contacted and issued a citation for the violation.

March 19

— HP investigated the report of a fuel spill in the Marriott Marina. Small amount of fuel located which was concentrated to one slip but the source was unable to be determined. Report taken and appropriate notifications were made.

March 18

— HP responded to the Pepper Park Launch Ramp (National City) to investigate a large yacht that was at the docks beyond the time limit. During the investigations there were suspicions of fraud involving the vessel. The case is still under investigation.

March 16

— HP issued a citation to a boater that was in the A-9 Cruisers Anchorage without a valid permit.

March 15

— HP issued a citation to a boater in the Harbor Police guest slips for not having a permit.

— HP responded to the A-2 Anchorage (Americas Cup Harbor) to investigate a subject acting erratically aboard a sailboat he set adrift. The naked subject was throwing items from the vessel into the bay as the boat drifted through the anchorage hitting other vessels. After approximately 30 minutes of dealing with the subject hiding below decks and causing scenes while standing on top of the boat, HPD MARTAC Team was deployed. After the subject was hit with several pepper balls he was taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for being under the influence of drugs or a mental disorder.

— HP were dispatched to the Coronado Cays to investigate a sailboat that was capsized. Upon their arrival they located the tri-hull sail boat capsized with two elderly people hanging on to it. They were recovered from the water and refused any medical attention. The sailboat was later righted.

March 14

— HP investigated an accident in a Harbor Island marina involving a rented sailboat. The sailboat was attempting to leave the dock area when the steering linkage broke. This caused the vessel to veer into a moored vessel causing minor damage.

March 13

— HP recovered a person very late in the evening who was floating on a boogie board across the bay. The person was taken to a hospital for treatment of hypothermia.

March 12

— HP issued a citation to the operator of a jet ski in the Harbor Island Basin for speeding.

— HP issued a citation to the owner of a dinghy at the Harbor Police guest slips for not having it properly registered.

March 11

— HP were contacted by a subject claiming his property, which was in a dock cart, was stolen. Officers soon located the dock cart next to a vessel in an adjacent marina. The subject aboard the vessel was in possession of the stolen items. He was arrested for the crime and also for possession of drugs.

— HP stopped a small power boat as it went past the police dock. The operator was issued a citation for not having life preservers on his three small children.

March 10

— HP responded to the A-2 Anchorage (Commercial Basin) to investigate a reported stolen vessel. The small boat was located later at an adjacent marina.

March 9

— HP responded to a North Bay marina to investigate a stolen vessel. They soon found the vessel had a lien placed on it by the marina. It was later discovered the vessel was taken by the owner and it was recovered at a different marina. The vessel was returned to the marina’s possession and will be dealt with as a civil issue.

March 7

— HP recovered a stolen vessel trailer that was associated with a stolen vessel recovery a week ago. A suspect was arrested in this case.

March 6

— HP is currently investigating a crime where a subject had their I-Pad stolen while visiting the Midway Museum. Investigators were able to follow it due to the tracking device. An arrest is expected.

— HP issued a citation to a boater in North Bay for not registering his vessel.

— HP investigated a report of solar panels and brackets being stolen from a vessel in a South Bay anchorage

February 25

— HP Issued a citation to a boater who was illegally anchored in the A-1 La Playa Anchorage without a valid permit.

— HP Issued citations to two boaters who were illegally anchored in the A-5 Glorietta Bay Anchorage without a valid permit.

February 24

— HP responded to the Harbor Police Guest Slips for two dinghies that were abandoned in a slip. The dinghies were impounded and taken to the Harbor Police Impound dock.

— HP responded to the Shelter Island Launch ramp for a vessel that was tied to the dock beyond the allowable time limit. Due to the size of the vessel, it was difficult for other boaters to utilize the dock. HP impounded the vessel and towed it to South Bay Storage Facility.

February 23

— HP contacted a couple of boaters in the A-5 Anchorage and located drugs and paraphernalia both on them and their vessels. Both subjects were arrested.

— HP responded to the A-1 La Playa Anchorage for three dinghies that were illegally beached. The dinghies were impounded and taken to the Harbor Police Impound dock.

February 21

— HP Issued a citation to a boater who was illegally anchored in the A-5 Glorietta Bay Anchorage without a valid permit.

February 20

— HP responded to the Silver Gate Yacht Club to investigate a fuel sheen in the water. Notifications were made to all investigative and clean-up agencies. At of this time, the source is unknown.

February 19

— HP Investigated a theft of a solar panel from a small vessel behind the Marine Exchange Shelter Island. HP will continue to investigate and are in the process of viewing video surveillance.

February 18

— HP were contacted regarding several vessels that were adrift and up against the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal. The vessels had all broken away from their mooring balls in the A-4 Anchorage, due to the high winds from the storm.

February 17

— HP responded to an adrift wooden sailboat near the Sheraton Marina. The small boat was taken to the Harbor Police impound dock.

February 16

— HP impounded a vessel from the A-5 Anchorage in Glorietta Bay for not having a valid permit. The vessel owner had been previously warned.

— HP issued a citation to a boater who was docked at the Harbor Police guest slips without a valid permit.
