Black Mirror

Why not revisit a Hitchcock classic for October? Psycho and The Birds are amazing, but for me Strangers on a Train (USA, 1951, Warner Brothers) is the most haunting Hitchcock film! Poor polite tennis player tries to be the nice guy to the slightly odd “fan” on the train. What seems like a late night bull session turns into an out-of-control nightmare. The premise has been repeated but nothing beats the best from Hitchcock! Will definitely make you think twice about casual conversations with strangers. Available on YouTube and iTunes.

If you grew up on Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt then head straight to Netflix for a much darker modern take on the 21st century! The first episode of Black Mirror (United Kingdom, 2011-2016, Channel 4) is definitely the most disturbing but you’ll find each episode a dark masterwork that will keep you thinking. Be sure to watch the entire series — there’s more to come and you won’t want to miss a thing! Available on Netflix and YouTube.
