Alt-rock New Yorkers Nada Surf set up on the all-ages stage at the Irenic Sunday night.

Sunday 22
From Baltimore in Maryland, the loop-heavy Horse Lords ride into Tijuana, where they’ll take the stage at Hostal Pangea after INUS (ex-Innerds) and Angel Peralta. Was advanced a copy of Horse Lords’ new record, Interventions, and have been busy parsing it ever since. It doesn’t parse. Its math-prog repetitions are purposeful and mesmerizing. And then the fucking sax comes in. I have no idea how this is going to translate live, but I can’t imagine a more electric environment than TJ to watch/listen/lose myself.... “My mom says I’m a catch/ I’m pop-ular,” sings Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws on the NYC band’s 1996 earworm “Popular.” They got a new record out this year called You Know Who You Are, which Dave Good discusses in this week’s Of Note breakdown of the Nada’s set at the Irenic Sunday night. From Los Angeles, new and notable futuristic garage-rocker Prism Tats opens the show...whilst Scottish indie-rock act Idlewild plays Everything Ever Written at Casbah after Jaguar (pronounced Jag-you-ar) Club.

Tribute band the Little Richards will headline sets at Casbah this Anti-Monday night!

Monday 23
Casbah’s Anti-Monday presents Robert Lopez’s (El Vez, Zeros) throwback act the Little Richards with South Bay mod band the Bassics. One can never be certain who will be onstage with “Little Bobby,” but one would be pretty safe to say that at some point we’ll see Schizophonics “Little Pat” and “Little Lety,” as well as Lopez cohort “Little Diana,” “singing the songs of Little Richard 1-2-3-4!!”...miss the door in Middletown, Bar Pink’s Soultry Monday stages soul sistah Tori Roze’s Hot Mess.

Tuesday 24
From DC, hip-hop rapper/producer Oddisee and local beatsmith Jimmy Javier split a bill at Soda Bar...while Philadelphia’s “son of a preacher man,” the R&B singer/guitarist Son Little’s Black Buffalo tour roams into Casbah. Son’s ANTI- labelmate, the L.A.-based soul-pop singer Doe Paoro, opens the show.

Indie-folkies Ivan & Alyosha take the stage at Casbah Wednesday night.

Wednesday 25
Folk-rock Seattle act Ivan & Alyosha plays Casbah after likeminded locals Whiskey Circle Wednesday night. I&A are touring in support of last year’s kick in the pants to mid-tempo Americana, It’s All Just Pretend. Out on Dualtone and produced by Joe Chiccarelli (U2, Spoon, the Strokes), these tracks and these cats should be better-known.... Best of the humpnight rest finds Mayer “Haircut” Hawthorne at Observatory North Park behind his new Vargrant disc, Man About Town...Brit punk band Angelic Upstarts (ca 1977!) headlines sets at Soda Bar after our own Stalins of Sound and Lemon Grove skate-slammer-jammers PSO...while heavy-metal classicists Pentagram produce Curious Volume at Brick by Brick after Bay Area “bitchcore” bands King Woman and Wax Idols.
