Incident Report 12/20 – 12/27

  • 59 Year old male with a leg injury (pre-existing). 2599 Quivira Ct. 4Sam, BLS 20 respond. Patient transported to VA Hospital.

  • PWC inside the surf at South Mission Beach. Rescue vessel responds. Cite and Release.

  • Chest pain and vomiting. 45 year old male. 3438 Mission Blvd. 2Sam, Engine 21, Medic 21 respond. Lifeguards cancel and Fire handles.

  • Person and dog in the San Diego River needing help. 1Sam responds. Dog is on the beach and the person swims over from the weir, safe.

  • OB crew requests a surf boat for backup for a rescue in front of the main tower. Clear with 1 rescue by the OB crew.

  • Harbor Police assisted a boater that ran out of gas and was adrift within the path of the oncoming Parade of Lights. HPD towed the vessel to a nearby dock.

  • Surfer unconscious pulled from the water at the foot of Law St. 61year old male pulled from the water, lifeguards get on scene and begin CPR and deploy an AED. Patient is packaged and brought to medic 20 who transports to Scripps La Jolla.

  • PD with a possible seizure requesting medical assistance at the foot of Newport. The patient had an allergic reaction. Mom deploys an Epipen, she thinks it was an allergy to peanuts. Patient meets with medics and AMA.

  • 77year old male at 3455 Oceanfront Walk has a fainting incident. U 23 responds. E20 on scene and lifeguards release to unknown destination.

  • Harbor Police were called to investigate a dinghy that was stolen from the Americas Cup Harbor.

  • Seaforth rental dead in the water in the turning basin. Vessel is a rental doughnut with a bbq. It is drifting towards Hospitality Pt. R1 set anchor until Seaforth chase boat arrives and takes the tow over.

  • Broken rudder on a 22’ Catalina close to Zuniga Jetty. Coronado wave runner lifeguards and SDHP vessel on scene. Vessel starts engine and is clear.

  • Sailboat in the surf line 1 mile north of the tip of Pt. Loma. 27’ sloop runs aground after the engine dies and drags anchor. Rescue 5 on scene and rescues the individual. Lifeguards transport back to SD Bay.

  • Harbor Police were called to a vessel adrift near the main shipping channel by the A-3 Anchorage (Laurel Street). HP responded and located the small sailboat that had broken away from its mooring ball within the A-3. HP towed the vessel back to its mooring. Contractor for salvage.

  • 22 year old Male with an allergic reaction. Reported by a ranger unit on Lifeguard Dispatch One. 1Sam, Engine 15, Medic 2 respond. Patient was transported to UCSD.

  • Harbor Police and the USCG were called to investigate a diesel spill at Sunroad Marina on Harbor Island.

  • 911 call for a 15 year old male on the rocks at Windansea Beach. Concerned he will fall and get hurt. Lifeguard 3 Sam, Lifeguard Unit 32 and SDPD respond. Person warned and call clear.

  • Possible missing swimmer off South Mission Beach. Reporting party states a woman stripped down to shorts and shirt and went into the ocean. Lifeguard 24Sam, Rescue vessel, SDPD, ABLE respond. Reporting party went home and called 911 an hour later. RP returns to South Mission and points out Clothes left behind are now gone. Clear.

  • Harbor Police were called to investigate a burglary that occurred aboard a vessel in the Harbor Island Marina.

San Diego Lifeguards are a 24 hour rescue agency whose responsibilities include water rescue, boat rescue, marine fire suppression, coastal cliff rescue, underwater search and recovery, swift water and flood search, rescue and emergency medical response. San Diego Lifeguards also handle enforcement of city, state and federal laws and regulations. Lifeguards are classified as peace officers with the power of arrest.
