It only looks like the nearby country club — it’s private

The “magnificient” Summerhill Estate is a 15,000-square-foot estate “sited on four all-usable acres atop a private knoll” in the “high end luxury community of Rancho Del Lago,” a gated development of approximately 41 homes at the northeastern edge of Rancho Santa Fe.

“After an exhaustive search to locate a Rancho Santa Fe estate property in a gated community that offered privacy, usability, and breathtaking views the owners chose this specific site,” explain listing materials for the 7-bedroom, 11-bath home built in 2002.

In addition to the “dramatic master suite” featuring a 540-square-foot main bedroom area with private bath and walk-in closet, there are three en-suite bedrooms upstairs and two more downstairs. Other interior features include “his beautifully wood paneled office” (there’s also a “her office” that gets less fanfare in the listing), a gourmet kitchen, “impressive family room with game room, bar, wine cellar, and media room.”

Rooms on the upper level enjoy the benefit of “stunning 300+ degree reservoir, mountain, and peek ocean views, while a glass-walled conservatory on the main level offers a scenic alternative to the included formal dining room.

“Every detail has been exquisitely planned, including the specific positioning of the estate to the stone, hardwood finishes, the specimen granite counter tops to the conservatory which was flown in from England and built on site.”

The property’s exterior, “framed by beautifully mature landscaping,” includes grounds that “recall the elegant indoor/outdoor old world Rancho Santa Fe countryside.” There’s a large pool with water features, outdoor entertainment deck, and pool house, along with a covered outdoor living room with fireplace and secondary kitchen. Further outdoor features include a manicured lawn and gardens, “outdoor dining terraces and verandas, a vibrant pond and orchards,” plus a garage for five-plus cars with motor court and a dual-use tennis/basketball court.

Public records list Gregorio and Vanessa Reyes as the home’s owners. They bought the property in 2000 for $2,750,000, two years before construction at Summerhill Estate was completed.

The home has been listed for sale off and on since fall of 2014. Its asking price reached as high as $10,995,000 in November 2014, shortly before the first listing on the property expired. A second offering at $9,994,000 ran from January 2015 until February of this year, when it expired without attracting a buyer. The home was then re-listed later in the month, this time back at $8,995,000, which remains unchanged to date.
