Southern rock railers Nashville Pussy hit the Hideout Friday night!

Friday 27
The band that has more hooks than a hillbilly’s tackle box, Nashville Pussy, is on tour this winter celebrating the release of their decade with SVP records, Ten Years of Pussy. According to the one-sheet, Ten Years highlights “the band’s most relevant work — Up the Dosage (‘the band’s Back in Black’), From Hell to Texas, and Get Some.” Pussy plays the Hideout Friday night with Denver hard-rock duo In the Whale and punk ’n’ roll locals Chica Diabla.... Los Angeles punk-rock vets X kick off two nights at Casbah with badass bassist Mike Watt and his Secondmen (get it?). Flip or click to the Reader’s Blurt paginas for Dryw Keltz’s interview with X man John Doe, who Dryw assures me is one of the most amicable muh fuhs on the planet. According to the X website, guitarist Billy Zoom, who was hit with bladder cancer this summer, “is currently on break from chemo treatments and ready to bring his infamous Cheshire grin back to stage left, where he belongs.” A X-mas miracle!... Best of the rest: Robert DeLong “knows the cheat code to make you dance” (Wired). The 29-year-old electronica artist winds up the new Music Box (the old Anthology) in Little It’ly behind his new record, In the Cards...for almost 30 years, Huntington Beach skate punks Guttermouth have been shredding the globe. They take the stage at Soda Bar Friday night...New York indie-pop band Darwin Deez hits up House of Blues behind their latest Lucky Number record, Double Down...while Java Joe's celebrates 24 years of songin' up the coffee shop with a gift list of top-shelf locals, including Jeff Berkley, Lisa Sanders, Gregory Page, Bushwalla, Veronica May, Joel Rafael, Robin Henkel, Frank Lee Drennen, and many more...

Swamp-rock singer/songwriter Diablo Dimes splits a bill with Ypsitucky at Bar Pink Saturday night.

Saturday 28
If you’re not rocking the Casbah with X on Saturday night, the Cuban-born, South Florida–raised swampy-tonk hoodoo guru Diablo Dimes is touring in support of his latest record, Hoodoo Serpentine Blues. He’ll be conjuring “honky-tonk, hooked, hop, lushhead heebies, and a full orchestration at a barrelhouse” after likeminded locals Ypsitucky at Bar Pink.... On the other side of the Heights Saturday night, 25-year-strong ’Sconie punk-rock activists Naked Aggression will be playing and sociopolitiking at Soda Bar after street-punk locs Systematic Abuse, Sculpins, and Midnight Eagle.... Else: one of L.A. Weekly’s “Best Bands of 2015,” potty-punk four-piece No Parents take the all-ages stage at the Irenic on the heels of their ’80s hardcore-infused debut, May the Thirst Be with You. Plague Vendor and Shady Francos open the show...while New York City “grave-wave” band Redder Moon rises at the Balboa in Bankers Hill after San Diego’s favorite A/V band Die Mißbildungen Des Menschen.
