AleSmith keeps rollin'

The first half of this year has included huge news for AleSmith Brewing Company. In addition to the announcement that the company will be moving into a building all its own with five times the space of its current business park campus, it has released numerous new and exciting beers, including AleSmith San Diego Pale Ale 394, a collaborative effort with dearly departed San Diego Padres and SDSU hero Tony Gwynn. Now, owner Peter Zien is close to selecting a site to house an AleSmith company store and tap room.

Letters of intent are about to be sent out for multiple locations, all of which are located in or near the City of San Diego’s urban core. Regardless of where AleSmith ends up, Zien’s intentions are the same. He is looking to build a high-end tasting room and merchandise outlet.

“I want to do something different,” says Zien. “When people visit ours, we want them to know it’s us. So, our staff is currently working to come up with ideas for different, unique experiences we can offer at the new space.”

One thing that will be different for sure is that, in addition to the expected — a bevy of AleSmith beers — the stores taps will also be hooked up to kegs filled with other San Diego breweries’ creations. Zien hopes to make the new spot a destination for people seeking out his company’s brews as well as those looking for a genuine taste of the San Diego beer scene. Beers will be available for on-site consumption with to-go options represented by bottles and growlers.
