Better joint for imprisoned women

After years of critical reports by the San Diego County Grand Jury about the condition of the San Diego sheriff's Las Colinas Detention Facility, and following legal battles with the City of Santee about placing it in the city, the new "campus" is nearly completed.

This image was taken on July 9, when we were about 1200 feet above the penitentiary, arriving for a landing at Gillespie Field. The campus is just west of Magnolia Avenue, behind the Santee Historical Society.

A date for a dedication ceremony has not been announced.
