Valley Center Brewery finds home at home

Homegrown craft beer springing up in North County Inland burg

Last September, I introduced readers to Valley Center’s first brewery, Valley Center Brewery. At the time, the family-run operation was in the midst of its very humble beginnings, but they’ve been busy in their northerly inland locale. Since my report, the company’s first beer, Cumbres Rusty Pail Ale has begun trickling into a handful of Valley Center spots — The Vineyard Wines & Tastes, Harvest Farms Market & Liquor, Portino’s and The Eagle’s Nest. Next up in their line of beers will be Rusty IPA.

The company has also found a new building to house its brewery. Located at 28477 Lizard Rocks Road, it should be fully occupied and operative by March or April. Expect a tasting room that’s both family- and dog-friendly with up to four styles at a time available for growler fills.

It’s fitting that Valley Center’s brewing operation is eponymous, since their biggest aspirations involve supplying the home town with grass roots brews. Owner Robert Marek and company are working on establishing more local accounts and also inquiring with nearby casinos about carrying their product, but do plan to expand distribution further out once their production is bulked up to support additional accounts and associated transportation considerations.
