"New Chicano" rapper Rossi on the rise

San Diego hip-hop artist Rossi rocked the mic at House of Blues during San Diego's inaugural DunkXChange, a trade show for sneaker heads and hip-hop enthusiasts.

Rossi kicked off his set with “Crack and Some Gold,” which carries a golden-age-of-hip-hop sound with a smooth blues sample. The lyrics reminisce on the challenges and experiences of growing up in neighborhoods on the underside of socioeconomics.

The “New Chicano” MC donned a Ché Guevara T-shirt, “representing for the green, white and red” on a track titled “No Rings.” The song is dedicated to the City of San Diego, Rossi’s Hispanic heritage, and the Chargers football team.
