L.A.-based violinist Nora Germain is the star of this weeks’ Young Lion’s series at Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue) joined by pianist Ed Kornhauser and bassist Will Pierce. 7 p.m. $5 cover… Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos hosts the Latin Jazz jam session with Irving Flores, Rob Thorsen, Charlie Chavez, and Mike Holguin at Seven Grand Whiskey Bar (3054 University Avenue) 9 p.m. No cover, musicians bring your instruments!... NYC guitarist Tom Guarna visits Dizzy’s (4275 Mission Bay Drive) along with LA bassist Hamilton Price, fellow New Yorker Mark Ferber on drums and our own Joshua White on piano. 8 p.m. $15… Trio Gadjo plus Claudia Gomez hit at Sycamore Den (3391 Adams Avenue) 9 p.m. no cover.

Friday 18
The Irving Flores Trio with Antar Martin on bass and Charles Weller on drums are on at Croce’s Park West. 8:30 p.m. $5 cover.

Saturday 19
The Charlie Arbelaez + Matt Hall Big Band, featuring Gilbert Castellanos, Iron Mike Bogart, Christopher Hollyday, and many others, play two shows at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard) 7:30 and 9:00 p.m. $20 online, $25 at the door… the Joshua White Trio with bassist Ben Wanicur and drummer Danny Campbell are doing it at Northern Spirits Jazz Club (727 West San Marcos Boulevard) 7:30 p.m. $5 cover… Guitar legend Mundell Lowe celebrates his 92nd Birthday at Dizzy’s, with Jaime Valle, Bob Boss, Gunnar Biggs and Jim Plank. 8 p.m. $15… Guitarist Alex Lopez and Latin Magic play an afternoon show at the India Street Farmers Market (1665 India Street) with Ray Roeder, Patrick Armenta, Alberto Diaz, Oscar Angulo, and Mateo Teschner. 2 p.m. Free! Celebrate Easter in a secular fashion as Fresh Sound at the Loft presents the Chris Speed Trio (911 Lyman Lane), a NYC group featuring Speed on saxophones, Chris Tordini on bass, and Dave King (of the Bad Plus) on drums. 7:30 p.m. $15, free parking on weekends.

Monday 21
Bassist Danny Weller returns to San Diego from NYC to star in a double-header concert at Dizzy’s. Opening is the Novas Trio with Jeff Miles on guitar, Rodrigo Recabarren on drums, and Carlos Vera L. on vibraphone. Then it’s Third Story with Weller, Miles, Recabarren, and Joshua White on piano. 8 p.m. $15.
