Kern River Causes a Rip Current: Two cult-favorite breweries will be showcased when O’Brien’s Pub welcomes in San Marcos start-up Rip Current Brewing to share its wares while helping finish up reserve kegs from a Kern River Brewing Company beer dinner. | O’Brien’s Pub, 4646 Convoy Street, Kearny Mesa, 5 p.m.

Freak Show: Little Freak and Super Freak are wild brews from Green Flash Brewing Company with a cult following. Taste them along with the new Black Freak, a never-before-bottled, red wine barrel-aged saison, and food from The Lodge at Torrey Pines, all amid a circus atmosphere. | Green Flash Brewing Company, 6550 Mira Mesa Boulevard, Mira Mesa, 6:30 p.m.

Ultimate Box Set Listening Party: Few brewing projects are as big as The Lost Abbey’s 13-beer Ultimate Box Set.
