Info center for the deported opens in Tijuana

Computers and phones made available

An information center for people deported from the United States was erected at the base of the giant arch in Tijuana earlier this week.

Inside the kiosk

The center — located in the historic center of Tijuana, at Revolución and Calle Primero (Unos Dos Tres) — has telephones and computers through which the deported can make contact with family members and other loved ones.

Hundreds of people gathered around the octagonal structure on the evening of November 24 for its inaugural opening.

Entertainment was provided by a couple of guitar-strumming singers performing cross-border musica such as Richie Valens’s “We Belong Together.”
