Armed man robs KFC restaurant in Imperial Beach

Employees forced into a freezer

An armed man used a black handgun to demand money from Imperial Beach KFC employees on Wednesday, November 6, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Uelen.

The sergeant said the suspect forced store employees into a freezer at 9:43 p.m. Before the manager was ordered into the freezer he was to open the cash registers. The employees were told stay in the freezer for 60 second.

Upon exiting, an employee pushed a silent alarm button and 911 was called.

Authorities described the robber as black, last seen wearing a dark-colored ski mask, dark gloves, dark-colored pants and a white long-sleeved button-up shirt with a tie.
