The 1975 — second time around

"And this is how it starts..." Ambient, synth-heavy, and loaded with pop hooks, the music of Manchester, England's latest breakouts, the 1975, met a friendly crowd at the Belly Up just three months after selling out the Casbah.

While performances of experimental tracks such as "M.O.N.E.Y." and the catchy "Head.Cars.Bending" reminded this concertgoer of the 1975's diverse range of musical styles, several of the band’s fan favorites were included on the set list as well, including "Settle Down," "Robbers," and recent radio hit "Chocolate."

Closing the night with "You" in one of the final performances of their second 2013 U.S. tour, the 1975 were just as strong in their sign-off as they were at the first guitar strum. Though only a few months have passed since the release of their debut record, the 1975's onstage perseverance and artistic vision indicate that this is one group San Diego will likely see again — soon.
