Street style: prints and patterns

Spring is all about mixing and matching prints. Stripes with floral, polka dots with graphic prints, and animal print on animal print abounds. The only problem is combining patterns can be dangerous task. It’s a trend that many take a tad too far. Some attempts at pulling off this look fall into the circus clown category while others end up looking chic. It’s a fine balance.

North Park resident, Zoe Sebright mixed things up in floral and stripes. She wore a thinly striped American Eagle cardigan sweater with a delicate floral summer dress from Cotton On in Mission Valley Mall. She paired her ensemble with a vintage cross shoulder purse. Sebright loves dresses and wishes she could raid Zooey Deschanel's extensive wardrobe of whimsical vintage-inspired frocks.

By sticking with a nautical theme Dove Braunstein, spotted in Little Italy, was able to subtly combine prints. She paired a striped Anne Taylor nautical tee, with Forever 21 café capris featuring tiny anchors. She finished off her look with a pair of towering Rag and Bone platform shoes.

In Clairemont, Heather Goodmanson avoided combining prints. Instead she opted for another equally popular trend—the combination of black and white. Goodmanson wore a classic thickly striped maxi dress paired with an oversized sun hat and dainty sandals. She looks Del Mar Race track ready.

Goodmanson is a real estate agent who relies heavily on accessories to spice up her work place wardrobe. She purchased her dress at a small surf shop on the boardwalk in PB.
