At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, the normal traffic pattern at Gillespie Field was interrupted when a coyote decided to take a tour of the field.
Six aircraft were ordered by the control tower to "go around: they were set up for a landing and instructed to abort their approach, apply full power, and climb back up to circle the field again.
Wile E. wandered onto the main runway, took a tour between runways, and continued his hunt for the Roadrunner onto the shorter north-south runway. Pilots approaching the field were warned and responding on the radio with "Watching for coyote traffic.” The interruption lasted about 20 minutes.
